About MtG-RC
MtG-RC is a free, independent, unofficial Magic: The Gathering rules reference built to make a large technical rulebook faster to search, link, and understand.
The problem this site solves
The Comprehensive Rules are the authoritative source for the game, but a document organized for precision is difficult to navigate during a live match. MtG-RC makes individual rules directly searchable and shareable, then adds a separate editorial layer of guides and frequently asked questions for players who need context rather than only source text.
Who maintains it
The site is independently built and maintained. Original explanations are published under the factual site identity “MtG-RC Editorial.” That label identifies the publication process; it does not claim judge certification, employment by Wizards of the Coast, or an individual credential.
What comes from official sources
Comprehensive Rules and tournament-policy text are reproduced as reference material and kept visibly separate from MtG-RC’s original guides and FAQ answers. Card data comes from Scryfall. Source pages remain useful tools, but they are not presented as original reporting.
What MtG-RC adds
The original editorial layer explains why a rule matters, walks through table scenarios, links related concepts, states when each article was reviewed, and provides a correction path. Search, direct links, bookmarks, offline access, and cross-references make the source material easier to use.
Accuracy and corrections
Editorial pages are checked against the cited Comprehensive Rules sections and reviewed when relevant rules change. Card-specific Oracle text and rulings should be verified in an official card database, and an event judge remains the final authority at a sanctioned event. Corrections can be sent to privacy@mtg-rc.com.
Funding
The site has no paywall or required account. It may use one clearly labeled advertisement within a long-form original guide after readers have already reached substantial editorial content. Utility, legal, search, and raw-reference pages do not contain manual ad placements. Voluntary support is also available through Ko-fi.
Fan content
MtG-RC is unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Wizards of the Coast Fan Content Policy. It is not approved or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Portions of the materials used are property of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
